What it offers

Eleven tools. The eight calculators run the same functions as the free calculators on this site, so the assistant receives exact results rather than its own arithmetic.

  • calculate_position_size

    Shares to buy or short so that a stop-out loses a set percentage of the account, with the dollar risk and the position's size.

  • calculate_risk_reward

    Risk/reward ratio of a planned trade, the win rate it needs to break even, and an exit expressed as an R multiple.

  • calculate_expectancy

    Expectancy per trade and per 100 trades, payoff ratio, break-even win rate and profit factor.

  • calculate_atr_stop

    A volatility stop from the average true range, or from at least five recent daily ranges.

  • calculate_drawdown_recovery

    The gain needed to recover from a drawdown, and the losing streak at a fixed risk per trade that causes it.

  • calculate_kelly_criterion

    Full and fractional Kelly risk per trade, the edge per 1R and the break-even win rate.

  • calculate_trading_cost

    Commissions, spread and slippage of a round trip in dollars, in R and over a year of trades.

  • calculate_losing_streak

    The exact probability of a losing streak of a given length, the expected longest streak and its 95% bound.

  • get_trading_system_rules

    The written rules of Clear Tape's five preset trading systems: entry, stop, exit, parameters, strengths, weaknesses and sources, as on the strategy pages.

  • lookup_glossary_term

    Definitions from the bilingual trading glossary, matched by name, abbreviation or pinyin, with tolerance for misspellings.

  • search_learning

    Keyword search across the Learn articles, Academy lessons, strategy pages and calculators, in English or Chinese.

Every result returns the inputs, the formula, the units, a note that it is educational and not investment advice, and a link to the matching page on cleartape.ai. Text can be returned in English or Simplified Chinese.

Add it to your assistant

  • Claude (claude.ai and Claude Desktop)

    Open Customize › Connectors, select Add, then Add custom connector. Enter the name Clear Tape and the server URL, choose No sign in, and select Add. In a chat, turn it on from the + menu under Connectors. Connectors belong to your account, so the same connector also works in Claude Desktop and the mobile apps.

    Custom connectors are available on every Claude plan; the Free plan allows one. On Team and Enterprise plans an owner adds it under Organization settings › Connectors, and members then connect it.

  • Claude Code

    Run this command in a terminal:

    Add --scope user to make it available in every project, or --scope project to share it with your team through the project's .mcp.json.

  • ChatGPT

    On chatgpt.com, open Plugins, select + and Add custom MCP server. Enter a name, a short description and the server URL, choose No authentication, confirm, and create it as a plugin. In a chat, type @ and select it. Custom MCP servers depend on your ChatGPT plan and, in a workspace, on its administrator's settings.

  • Cursor, VS Code and other clients

    Any client that supports remote MCP servers over Streamable HTTP can use the server URL directly; no key or header is needed.

Limits

  • 60 requests a minute and 2,000 a day per IP address. Beyond that the server answers HTTP 429 until the limit refills.
  • No market data: prices, quotes, charts, scans and trade signals are not available through this server.
  • The losing-streak calculator takes up to 2,000 trades here; its page on the site takes up to 10,000.
  • Each request stands alone: there are no sessions, and nothing is remembered between calls.

Privacy

  • No account, no sign-in and no cookies.
  • Clear Tape counts calls per tool per day for capacity planning. The inputs and results of a call are not stored.
  • Your IP address is held in memory only to apply the rate limits and is not written to disk by Clear Tape.
  • The assistant you connect has its own terms for what you send it; check them before entering details about your account.

Educational, not investment advice

The tools apply standard formulas to the inputs that you or your assistant provide. Their results are not recommendations to buy or sell any security, and they leave out commissions, slippage and gaps unless you enter them. An assistant can misread a question or pass the wrong inputs: check the inputs echoed in each result, and the formula behind it on the linked page.
