A TradeZella alternative is another trading journal that does the same core job: records your trades, measures the results and helps you review them. If you trade US stocks and want a free journal that grades each trade against your own plan, Clear Tape is one option; if you need auto-sync from many brokers, futures, forex or trade replay, TradeZella fits better.
TradeZella at a glance
TradeZella is a web-based trading journal with three paid plans and, according to its pricing page, no free plan. It syncs trades automatically from more than 500 brokers and prop firms, covers stocks, options, futures, forex and crypto, and adds Zella AI, which answers questions about your own trades, tags them and checks them against your rules. Manual backtesting is on every plan; trade replay and automated AI backtests come with the Pro and Ultra plans.
Side by side
TradeZella's facts are from its own website, checked on 17 October 2026; prices and plans change, so check them before you decide.

Where TradeZella is stronger
- Automatic imports. Auto-sync covers more than 500 brokers and prop firms; Clear Tape syncs only Interactive Brokers, and other brokers need a CSV export.
- More markets. Options, futures, forex and crypto trades can be journaled, not only stocks.
- Replay and backtesting. Replaying a trade bar by bar is useful for intraday review; Clear Tape has nothing similar.
- A wider AI assistant. Asking open questions about your own trading history goes beyond a per-trade score.
- Community and mentoring. Mentor Mode suits traders who review with a coach or a group.
Where Clear Tape differs
- The plan comes first. A trade can be saved as a plan (entry, stop, targets, setup, thesis) before the order, so the review compares what you did with what you meant to do.
- The AI grades the process, not the P&L. Each closed trade gets a score out of 100 for plan, setup fit, entry, risk, management and discipline. A losing trade that followed the plan can score well; a winner without a stop cannot.
- Results in R. Win rate, expectancy, profit factor and drawdown in dollars and in R, broken down by setup, side, weekday and holding period.
- Free to start. The journal, the import and every statistic are free; paid plans raise the AI limits.
- Learning around the journal. Ten free calculators, six free Academy courses and the Learn guides, in English and Chinese.
Which to choose
- Choose TradeZella if you trade futures, forex, crypto or options, want a broker other than Interactive Brokers to sync without exports, or review intraday trades by replaying them.
- Choose Clear Tape if you swing trade US stocks, want to write the plan before the entry and be graded on following it, or want a free journal or a Chinese interface.
Many traders try two journals for a month on the same trades. Exporting from your broker once and importing into both is the quickest way to compare.
Moving your trades
Clear Tape imports from a broker's CSV export rather than from another journal, so the simplest move is to export the period you want from the broker itself. Step-by-step guides: Interactive Brokers, Charles Schwab, Fidelity, Robinhood and any other broker.
In Clear Tape
The trade journal (Journal in the dashboard menu) is free for every signed-in member, with one AI trade score a day; the Tools and Pro plans allow 10 and 30 a day and add an AI review of a whole period. See the trade journal page and pricing, and for how to use a journal well, how to keep a trading journal. Other comparisons: Tradervue alternative and Edgewonk alternative.
