AI research tools for traders

Most AI tools are in the paid plans: Tools ($30 a month) includes the assistant (10 questions a month) and the Stock read (5 a day); Pro ($49 a month) includes every AI tool, with larger allowances. A free account includes one AI system check and one AI trade score a day, with no card needed.

What the AI does, and what it doesn’t

It does

  • Explain Clear Tape’s analysis, key levels and data in plain language
  • Organise many numbers into one readable view
  • Draft trading rules that you review, test and decide on

It doesn’t

  • Place trades or connect to a brokerage account
  • Tell you what to buy or sell, or how much
  • Predict returns. Its answers can be wrong or out of date: check anything that matters

AI assistant Tools

Pro: 20 questions a month. Tools: 10 questions a month, answered without Clear Tape’s pre-market analysis, levels or positions.

Ask about the market and the site. For each question, the server gathers the data your plan includes: quotes for up to 3 tickers you name, this week’s economic calendar and how the service works, and on Pro, Clear Tape’s latest pre-market analysis and key levels too. Claude, Anthropic’s AI model, writes the answer from that data only; if something isn’t there, it says so instead of guessing. It explains the data, the levels and the risk math. It doesn’t tell you what to buy or sell, or how much.

What does R:R mean?

Clear Tape AI

R:R, the reward-to-risk ratio, compares the distance to the target with the distance to the stop. An entry at $50 with a stop at $48 and a target at $56 risks $2 to make $6: a reward-to-risk of 3 : 1. It describes a plan, not the chance that the target is reached.

Answers are generated by AI and may contain errors. Not personal advice.

AI trading-system coach Pro

Pro: 5 conversations a month.

Tell the coach how you trade: your style, how long you hold, how much risk you take, what you look for on a chart. It asks a few short questions, then proposes a system in Clear Tape’s rule language (daily prices, moving averages, RSI, ATR and volume). A proposal is saved only if it passes the rule check and you agree; it then joins your systems and runs on your watchlist after each close, and you can backtest it before relying on it. Once you have saved a holdout study, you can also ask the coach about it: it quotes only that study’s own numbers.

Who it’s for Traders who know their style but haven’t written it down as rules.

Example

Proposed system

Pullback in an uptrend

Entry
Close above the 50-day SMA, after a pullback to the 20-day EMA
Stop
2 × ATR(14) below the entry
Exit
Close below the 50-day SMA
Example of a system the coach might propose. Rules to review and backtest, not a recommendation.

Options AI read Pro

Pro: 5 a day.

On a stock’s options page, Claude reads every number together (the walls, dealer gamma, implied volatility, skew and the earnings move) and writes one view: where the stock sits, the levels that matter, an up and a down scenario, earnings and volatility, and the risks. It works from those numbers only, on delayed data, and can still misread them.

Who it’s for Options traders who want the page summarised before they look closer.

Stock read Tools

Pro: 20 a day. Tools: 5 a day, without Clear Tape’s levels or the options data. In trial.

Jev is a decision model made by TypeSafe, a third party. Name a stock and Jev reads what Clear Tape has on it that your plan includes (price and trend, levels, picks, options, earnings, filings, headlines and social heat) and returns probabilities rather than a narrative: the lean over the next 1–5 sessions, setup quality, whether a breakout or breakdown is likely to follow through, risk, the trend regime and the risk of a pullback. Under “What Jev saw” you can read the exact text it was given, and nothing else. These are a model’s estimates, not a forecast to rely on, and the feature is still in trial.

Who it’s for Traders who want a structured second opinion on a setup they are already studying.

Where else AI is used

  • AI-drafted pre-market analysis, reviewed before publishing

On trading days, an AI model can draft the pre-market analysis from that morning’s market data. It words only the numbers it is given; every figure in the draft is checked automatically against the data, and anything unmatched is flagged. Nothing reaches members until a person at Clear Tape has reviewed the draft and published it, and Clear Tape’s own write-up for a day always takes precedence.

  • English translation by AI

Clear Tape’s analysis is written in Chinese. The English version is an AI translation that keeps every number, ticker and level exactly as written; the Chinese original is one click away.

  • One house style

Every AI answer follows the same house style: the register of a professional research note, with no slang, hype or exclamation marks. In Chinese, the AI writes formal written Chinese, addresses you as 您 and uses standard market terms.

Your data and the AI providers

  • Anthropic (Claude) powers the assistant, the coach, the options reads, the system check, the journal’s AI score and review, and the translations. It receives your question or coach conversation and the data the answer needs (market data, the day’s analysis and key levels, your plan), not your email address or name. Under its commercial terms, Anthropic doesn’t use these requests to train its models and deletes them within 30 days, unless it must keep them longer to enforce its usage policy or to comply with the law.
  • Clear Tape doesn’t keep the text of your assistant questions or coach conversations on its server (the coach keeps only a fingerprint of each reply, to check a conversation is genuine). It counts how many you have used.
  • TypeSafe receives market data about the stock you ask Jev about, and no personal data. Jev reads are logged by stock and time, without your email, to evaluate their quality.

Questions

Does Clear Tape’s AI trade for me or pick stocks?

No. Clear Tape doesn’t connect to a brokerage account and places no orders. The AI explains and organises information; it doesn’t tell you what to buy or sell, or how much, and it doesn’t predict returns. Every decision is yours.

Can the AI be wrong?

Yes. AI models can misread numbers or state something with more confidence than the data supports. Each tool works only from the data it is given and says when something is missing, but you should check anything that matters against the source.

Which AI models does Clear Tape use?

Claude, by Anthropic, writes the assistant’s answers, the coach’s proposals, the options reads, the system check’s explanations, the journal’s AI scores and reviews, the analysis drafts and the English translation. The Stock read comes from Jev, a decision model by TypeSafe.

What happens to my questions?

Your question or coach conversation goes to Anthropic with the data the answer needs, without your email address or name. Anthropic doesn’t train on it and deletes it within 30 days. Clear Tape doesn’t keep the text, only how many you have used. See the .

Are any AI tools included in the free plan?

Two, with a small allowance: one system check and one AI trade score in the journal a day. Tools, $30 a month or $288 a year, includes the AI assistant (10 questions a month, answered from market data without Clear Tape’s analysis or levels), the Stock read (5 a day), 10 system checks and 10 trade scores a day, and 2 AI period reviews a week. Pro, $49 a month or $468 a year, includes every AI tool: the assistant (20 questions a month), the coach (5 conversations a month), the options read (5 a day), the Stock read (20 a day), 30 system checks and 30 trade scores a day, and 7 AI period reviews a week. Prices are before applicable taxes. The free plan includes the market tools; see .

Is AI output investment advice?

No. It is information and education, not personal advice, and Clear Tape isn’t a licensed investment adviser. See the .
